The client’s one-car garage in Vaughan was built on standard bare concrete that had begun to show typical signs of wear - surface dusting, minor pitting, and susceptibility to oil stains, moisture intrusion, and seasonal salt damage. The floor lacked any protective coating, leaving it vulnerable to long-term deterioration from vehicle traffic and environmental exposure. Aesthetically, the space felt unfinished and disconnected from the rest of the home. The transition between the garage interior and the exterior apron was particularly inconsistent, with mismatched tones and textures that reduced overall curb appeal. The client wanted more than just protection - they needed a high-performance flooring system that would unify the space visually while delivering durability, easy maintenance, and resistance to heavy daily use.
Epoxy Boss executed a full-system epoxy flake installation, engineered for both structural performance and high-end visual impact. The process began with mechanical surface preparation using industrial diamond grinders, which removed the top layer of weak concrete, opened the pores for proper adhesion, and eliminated contaminants such as dirt, oil residues, and previous coatings. Any minor cracks and surface imperfections were repaired to create a uniform substrate. Next, a high-build, industrial-grade epoxy base coat was applied to penetrate and bond with the prepared concrete. While the base coat was still active, the team performed a full broadcast of decorative flakes, ensuring 100% coverage for maximum durability and a consistent finish. Inside the garage, orbit flakes were used to create a dynamic, multi-dimensional “galaxy” effect, adding depth and visual movement to the space. For the exterior apron, raven flakes were carefully applied to introduce a sleek, modern contrast, creating a clean and intentional transition from outside to inside. Once cured, the surface was scraped and vacuumed to remove excess flakes and achieve a uniform profile. The system was then sealed with a UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat, providing superior resistance to abrasion, hot tire pickup, chemicals, and UV exposure. A slip-resistant additive was incorporated to enhance safety without compromising the finish. The final result is a seamless, high-performance flooring system that not only protects the concrete long-term but also transforms the garage into a polished, cohesive, and visually striking extension of the home.
