Q: How long does epoxy flooring last in a residential home? A: With proper surface preparation, a professional-grade epoxy floor can last 15–25+ years in a residential garage or basement. The key factor is diamond grinding before application — NOT acid wash. This ensures the coating bonds to the concrete permanently (not just sticking on top).
Q: Will epoxy floors yellow over time? A: Epoxy can yellow if exposed to direct UV sunlight. To prevent this, we use a UV-stable polyaspartic or polyurethane topcoat, which keeps the floor crystal-clear and prevents ambering, even in bright garages.
Q: Can epoxy flooring be installed in winter? A: Yes. We use controlled-cure systems that allow installation year-round, including cold weather. For garages, we also check concrete moisture content to ensure a proper cure.
Q: Will my garage smell during installation? A: For epoxy systems — there may be mild odor, but it dissipates quickly. For polyaspartic + water-based systems — odor is minimal to none. We choose the system based on your ventilation conditions.
